Fabian Coulthard has finished the day on top, recording a 55.74sec lap in the final practice session of the Perth 400.
Also fastest in the first session, the Lockwood racer said a win would come at Barbagallo Raceway if it was "meant to be" - and has begun the weekend in the best possible fashion.
While Holden Racing Team's James Courtney sat at the top for the majority of the session, the final minutes saw his time eclipsed, with Chaz Mostert, Jamie Whincup, David Reynolds, Volvo's Robert Dahlgren, Mark Winterbottom, Russell Ingall and Dale Wood topping the 2010 Champ,who ended the session ninth.
Craig Lowndes finished 10th, with the first Erebus home in 11th with Lee Holdsworth behind the wheel, and Nissan's quickest James Moffat in 14th.
Scott McLaughlin topped the second session, the Kiwis continuing to run well, but could only manage 12th in the final run.
Coulthard's Brad Jones Racing teammate Jason Bright was 16th in the order.

The V8 Supercars will qualify at Barbagallo Raceway tomorrow morning at 10.15am local time, with two back-to back 10-minute sessions to determine the grid for the 100km twin races to follow.
