Tickets go on saletoday for The Perth round of the V8 Supercar Championship, which will be knownthis year as the Chill Perth 360, thanks to a partnership with West Australiandairy Brownes.
Former V8 Supercarschampion, multiple Bathurst winner and West Australian Garth Tander was inPerth today to announce the sponsorship, launch ticket sales for the 3 to 5 Mayevent at Barbagallo Raceway Wanneroo, and provide details on the significantchanges to Australia's premier motorsport series.
Coming straight fromthe Clipsal 500 - the first round of the 2013 V8 Supercar Championship - Tandersaid there was a whole new level of competition on the track with twoadditional manufacturers racing for the title.
"It's been anamazing start to the year in Adelaide with record crowds and big televisionaudiences.
"It has beenintriguing to see Nissan and Mercedes on the grid; especially the positiveimpact they have had.
Both those teams arestill feeling their way a little but when we get to Perth I am sure they willbe strong challengers.
"For our HoldenRacing Team things are looking great early on. We had a strong run in Adelaideand can get big race wins this year I'm sure.
"We've alwaysbeen strong in Perth so I am really looking forward to it. The track with theimprovements are absolutely first class; thanks to the Government and V8Supercars for giving Western Australia, my home, a fantastic facility for allmotorsport."
V8 SupercarsAustralia's Director of Sanctioned Business, Adam Firth, said the addition ofWorld MotoGP champion Casey Stoner as a driver in the Dunlop Development Seriessupport category meant this would be the motorsport event of the year for WAfans.
"There's nodoubt Casey is going to be a huge draw card when he drives a V8 HoldenCommodore in the Dunlop Development Series.
"When you've gotnames like his on the billing with the superstars of the V8 SupercarChampionship like Whincup, Lowndes, Winterbottom and Tander, you've got amassive motorsport event," Firth said.
The Auto One V8 UteRacing Series and the Touring Car Masters will complete the three huge days ofmotorsport action.
The Chill Perth 360is further boosted in 2013 with the new partnership with iconic WesternAustralian brand Brownes.
Brownes ManagingDirector Ben Purcell said the company was proud to continue its tradition ofsupporting the WA community and major events.
"Brownes has been a major part ofWestern Australia since 1886. Brownes Chill is a household name, just like V8Supercars," he said.
"Chill is agreat fit for this event. We know how much West Australians love the V8s and weknow how much they love Brownes Chill. "
Eventscorp ExecutiveDirector Gwyn Dolphin said the Chill Perth 360 was a feature of Perth'sexciting events calendar and gave West Australians a chance to see the newmanufacturers and new faces on the track.
"Last year'sevent attracted 43,000 spectators to the redeveloped track and we're confidentof even more visitors this year. The Chill Perth 360 will be seen aroundAustralia on the Seven Network and its regional affiliates on the Saturday andSunday of the event, plus will be televised to more than 130 countries,"Dolphin said.
The V8 SupercarsChampionship attracts fans of all ages and the Chill Perth 360 will be a greatday out for families with a Family Fun Zone, family passes and free entry forchildren under 13 years. Getting to the track is easy with public transportincluded with pre-purchased tickets. A regular shuttle will run to and from theClarkson train station to the venue. A free Driver Signingat Forrest Place on Thursday 2 May will give fans the chance to meet all of theChampionship drivers, building excitement for the race weekend.
