There were 10 multi-car teams in 2021, with Red Bull Ampol Racing coming out on top of the lot.

Shane van Gisbergen was a runaway champion in 2021, with teammate Jamie Whincup racing into retirement with second overall.

In Part 1 of Supercars.com's analysis, we took a closer look at the combinations at Brad Jones Racing, Team 18, Kelly Grove Racing, Matt Stone Racing and Team Sydney.

Today’s Part 2 features the top-end of town; Red Bull Ampol Racing, Shell V-Power Racing Team, Tickford Racing, Walkinshaw Andretti United and Erebus Motorsport.

Red Bull Ampol Racing

Championship position: van Gisbergen 1st, Whincup 2ndPoles: van Gisbergen 6, Whincup 3Qualifying head-to-head: van Gisbergen 17, Whincup 14Average start head-to-head: van Gisbergen 4.1, Whincup 4.9Race head-to-head: van Gisbergen 21, Whincup 9Average finish head-to-head: van Gisbergen 3.7, Whincup 4.7Wins: van Gisbergen 14, Whincup 2Podiums: van Gisbergen 23, Whincup 15

Van Gisbergen was a deserved champion, making history at nearly every turn as he added to his 2016 championship. Whincup could only win two races to van Gisbergen's 14, but kept his teammate guessing to the penultimate round in Sydney. The two drivers were close in qualifying, but van Gisbergen out-raced Whincup 21-9, which was one of the biggest teammate disparities in pit lane.

Shell V-Power Racing Team

A number of DNFs for Anton De Pasquale ensured Will Davison was the higher-placed Shell Ford by season's end. However, De Pasquale pipped Davison in almost every key metric, and was untouchable in qualifying. De Pasquale won the ARMOR ALL Pole Champion Award and six races, with Davison going winless for a fifth straight season.

Tickford Racing

Tickford was again led by Cameron Waters in 2021; Waters took the team's four poles and three wins, and scored an additional six podiums. James Courtney scored a Sydney podium, with Jack Le Brocq leaving for MSR having only out-qualified and out-raced his Tickford teammates four times each.

Walkinshaw Andretti United

The biggest disparity in pit lane was that between Chaz Mostert and Bryce Fullwood. The qualifying and race head-to-heads were 26-5 and 26-4, both in favour of Mostert. Mostert ended the season with the biggest single race prize at Mount Panorama alongside Lee Holdsworth, although Fullwood showed glimpses of pace at times in 2021 to leave for BJR with confidence.

Erebus Motorsport

Championship position: Brown 8th, Kostecki 9thPoles: Brown 1Qualifying head-to-head: Brown 21, Kostecki 10Average start head-to-head: Brown 10.4, Kostecki 12.1Race head-to-head: Brown 18, Kostecki 12Average finish head-to-head: Brown 10.5, Kostecki 12.3Wins: Brown 1Podiums: Brown 3, Kostecki 3

Erebus came into its own towards the end of the season, with Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki finishing in the top 10 overall. It was a standout season for both full-time rookies, with Kostecki on the podium at Sandown in March. Brown scored his first podium, pole and win at Sydney Motorsport Park, and also scored provisional pole in Bathurst. However, Kostecki impressed at the final hurdle with a Bathurst podium alongside David Russell. Regardless, Brown had Kostecki's measure in one-lap and race pace, winning the head-to-heads 21-10 and 18-12.
