Volvo's Scott McLaughlin has dialed the fastest time so far today, the first driver into the 55-second bracket in the second practice session at the Perth 400.
However, the popular young Kiwi - who recorded a 55.91sec lap in the session - believes it is difficult to understand where he is at comparatively, and saysonly qualifying tomorrow will tell.
"The car's alright - it's a little bit hard to know where you're at. At the end of the day, we're up the front so that's the main thing... probably until qualifying we don't know, but it's not too bad."
McLaughlin has had a string of ARMOR ALL Pole Positions over the past few rounds, but is yet to record a Championship race win. Could it happen this weekend?
"We're not far. To be battling for the wins at the moment is awesome, so it's a good start for Volvo."
It's the first time West Australian fans can see the S60 in the flesh, and McLaughlin says there has been a positive reaction so far, and in all states the V8 Supercars have raced in.
"It's been pretty good - it's always been good everywhere we go," McLaughlin said about the fan reaction to his 'blue beast'.
Valvoline-backed McLaughlin's time was just 0.25sec quicker than Ford's David Reynolds, with early fast man Fabian Coulthard third.
Mark Winterbottom, Will Davison, Dale Wood, Nick Percat, Jack Perkins, Tim Slade and Rick Kelly completed the top 10.
Others to note include Chaz Mostert 14, Garth Tander 15, Shane van Gisbergen 17, Jason Bright 18, and James Courtney, Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes 21-23.
