Shane van Gisbergen and Will Davison are both eager to help their respective squad gain a foothold in the teams’ championship.

Red Bull Ampol Racing regained the teams’ points lead at the NTI Townsville 500.

It came after Shell V-Power Racing Team left Darwin atop the standings.

The championship now heads to Tailem Bend, where Shell V-Power Fords were on the pace last May.

Anton De Pasquale grabbed a win and two poles, with Davison also on the podium.

Van Gisbergen’s dual Townsville wins pushed his team back into the lead, albeit by just 10 points.

The drivers’ championship leader said the improved performance of rookie teammate Broc Feeney is crucial to his team’s hopes.

Race Radio: That last lap clash

“It’s definitely something we talk about,” van Gisbergen told Supercars.com of the teams’ championship.

“It’s one of the first things we said after the race, ‘It’s within 10 points’.

“It means so much to this team to have the front two garages.

“Broc is getting better, he’s getting more consistent, and it’s helping us.”

The results of this year’s teams’ championship will set the garage order for the first season of Gen3.

Red Bull Ampol Racing and Shell V-Power Racing Team have shared the last 12 teams’ titles.

Davison, who won a race in Perth, was pleased with his team’s double-podium weekend in Townsville despite hiccups.

Triple Eight currently has pit lane bragging rights

Davison was forced to fight through the field in Sunday’s Race 20 following an early clash with Scott Pye.

A day earlier, De Pasquale battled for pace and came home sixth.

“Really positive,” Davison told Supercars.com of his team's weekend.

"Missed opportunity today; the car was a jet, fastest lap.

“Storming through the field at the end, took a dents on the car bouncing of the walls.

“Great job by the team, it was a great recovery.

"It was a missed opportunity, but we’re going well, it’s really positive, and The Bend’s one of our favourites.”
