Untouchable Mostert: Bathurst speed breakdown

A deep dive into the Repco Bathurst 1000 session times proves how good Chaz Mostert and his car was.

Mostert and Lee Holdsworth raced to victory in Sunday's race, with Mostert scoring his second Bathurst win.

What was most impressive was that they had to fight back from a mid-race puncture.

When Mostert was in the lead in the final stints, despite all the Safety Car interventions, he continued to flex his muscle.

The speed in the #25 Mobil 1 Appliances Online Commodore was there for all to see; it was in the top three in every single session.

Mostert was a cut above over one lap; he set three of the top 10 fastest practice laps and two of the top four fastest qualifying laps.

Mostert's pole-winning 2:03.373s is the new practice/qualifying record, an even more impressive feat considering he recorded it in the ARMOR ALL Top Ten Shootout.

He went even faster on Sunday; Mostert recorded nine of the top 10 fastest laps of the 161-lap race.

"Just super grateful that the car that the team gave us was super fast," he said.

"We have got some days to reflect on this now, it’s just such an amazing team effort, I’m so proud of all our guys and the girls back at the workshop.

"The effort they put in for this race is second-to-none.

"I could see that last year when we got third here, we didn’t quite have the car pace, but they work extremely hard so it’s a real credit to them."

The 13-event 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle next year. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
