Will Davison’s recent memories in Perth involve a drought-breaking victory in 2022 but one of his most famous laps of the West Australian circuit took place in 2014.

On that occasion, Davison was an Erebus driver when the team ran Mercedes-Benz in the category.

Naturally, it was a good fit to have Davison behind the wheel of a Mercedes 0405NH bus to promote Transperth’s fleet that helped get fans to and from the event.

For the record, Davison clocked just on 2:30s for his best lap around the 2.42km circuit, while the Supercars lap record is 52.8141s set during qualifying by Scott McLaughlin in a Shell Ford Mustang in 2019.

James Courtney holds the race lap record, a 53.7293s set in a Walkinshaw Commodore, also in 2019.

"This was a unique experience to drive something so heavy on a racetrack," said Davison at the time.

'I managed to clip a couple of kerbs'

"I tried to drive it at a leisurely pace. It's pretty harsh on suspension and I managed to clip a couple of kerbs. I'm more used to my little race car.

"I'm doing it to promote taking public transport to the track... it means people can have a relaxed day at the track not worrying about driving or parking."

Transperth will once again be providing free shuttle buses for fans attending the 2023 Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint.

Event Manager Matt Ramsden said Supercars is strongly encouraging all fans attending the event to take advantage of public transport.

“Free public transport will be available on the Transperth rail network for Perth SuperSprint ticket holders on Saturday April 29 and Sunday April 30.

“A free connecting shuttle bus is available from Clarkson Station to Wanneroo Raceway and return.”
