Team 18 has sealed another coup in hiring former Erebus and Kelly Grove crew chief Dennis Huijser.

The team confirmed Tuesday that Huijser has joined the team as its new crew chief, commencing immediately.

Huijser was at Erebus Motorsport between 2016 and 2020, and oversaw a Bathurst 1000 win in 2017.

He shifted to Kelly Grove Racing in 2021 along with driver David Reynolds and engineer Alistair McVean.

March’s NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint was Huijser’s last event with Grove Racing.

It comes after Team 18 recently acquired Bruin Beasley as its new Team Manager.

Huijser replaces John Moore, who departed the team following the Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint.

"We’re thrilled to welcome Dennis Huijser to Team 18 as we look to draw on his experience and success in Supercars to propel the team forwards," team owner Charlie Schwerkolt said.

"There’s a real buzz around our staff at the moment with Dennis’ arrival and Bruin Beasley’s appointment as Team Manager, and we hope this will move us to a new level in the back half of 2022 and into the new era of the sport in 2023.

Driver profile: Who is Mark Winterbottom?

"Both of these guys share a relentless desire to win and a proven track record in preparing competitive cars and a high-performance team culture that brings results on track.

"We have got an extremely strong driver lineup who can do the job on race day, so we’re ready to get to work and hit the ground running next week up in Darwin."

Team 18 duo Mark Winterbottom and Scott Pye are 14th and 18th respectively after five rounds.

Team 18 is placed seventh in the teams’ standings.
