This weekend’s ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight will feature a number of historic firsts.

The second of four Sydney events, which form the Beaurepaires Sydney Cup, will feature three sprint races.

The ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight will feature the first race championship history to be held on a Sunday night.

For the first time ever at Sydney Motorsport Park, two races will feature under lights.

Saturday and Sunday nights will feature night races at 7:45pm AEDT and 7:30pm respectively. Click here to view the full schedule.

Since the championship’s inception in 1960, just 13 of 1077 races have been held under lights.

All previous 13 championship night races have taken place on Friday and Saturday nights.

It will be the third instance of a round featuring two night races in Australia, following Calder Park (1997) and Perth (2019).

Two night races were held at the Abu Dhabi events in 2010 and 2011.

ARMOR ALL Qualifying for Races 23 and 25 will be critical; 11 of 13 night races have been won from the front row of the grid.

The weekend will also feature mixed compound racing for the first time this season.

Drivers will have five sets of the Dunlop Soft compound and three sets of Hards for qualifying and the 32-lap races. They must use both compounds in the race.

However, the weather is set to provide another twist; there is a 60 per cent chance of rain for Saturday, and 90 per cent on Sunday.

Wet weather hasn't affected racing since May's OTR SuperSprint. There was wet running at SMSP on the Saturday in 2014 and Sunday in 2015.

Shane van Gisbergen won both water-logged 2014 races, with Chaz Mostert winning the 2015 race, which featured a late onset of rain.

Tickets for the three upcoming Sydney events are on sale now.
