Tim Slade has gained the most positions in races so far this season, while it’s bad reading for the Shell V-Power Racing Team.

Slade has a net improvement of 54 places between where he has started and finished each of this year’s 15 races.

The CoolDrive Racing driver has the 15th best average qualifying position, but recovers in the races.

Qualifying remains Slade’s Achilles heel; he has qualified in the top 10 just five times.

On eight occasions, Slade has qualified 16th or worse.

Second is Nick Percat, who despite his one-lap pace, has saved face in races.

Percat is 20th on the average qualifying result list, but never dies wondering in races.

The Walkinshaw Andretti United driver gained a combined 40 spots in Perth and Winton alone.

Third is points leader Shane van Gisbergen, who has made a spirited comeback each time he floundered in qualifying.

Van Gisbergen has qualified 21st, 23rd and 11th; in those races, he finished sixth, third and fifth.

The defending champion is responsible for the single biggest gain, having raced from 23rd to the podium in Race 6 in Melbourne.

Conversely, Anton De Pasquale and Will Davison are anchored to the bottom.

Shell V-Power Mustangs have been class of the field over one lap, but Davison’s Race 11 win is the only victory to date for the team.

Slade is ninth in the championship

De Pasquale and Davison suffered their biggest hits at Albert Park, where their high qualifying results were undone in the races.

Notably, they were stung by punctures, with Davison also spun out by Cam Waters.

De Pasquale has finished equal to or higher than where he started five times in 15 starts; Davison is seven from 15.

Jack Le Brocq is just ahead of the Shell V-Power teammates; Le Brocq’s net loss of 47 spots in Tasmania is the worst of the season.

Conversely, Garry Jacobson’s 40-position gain at Albert Park is the best, ahead of Will Brown (25 in Tasmania).
