Prodrive Racing Australia has locked out the top three qualifying spots for this afternoon's 200km race at the Castrol EDGE Townsville 400 with Chaz Mostert earning ARMOR ALL Pole Position.
The young gun's pole tally extends to sixth for 2015, with his 1min12.8663 lap, just 0.06sec quicker than teammate and Championship leader Mark Winterbottom.
Darwin winner David Reynolds recorded the third fastest time with Scott McLaughlin's Volvo breaking up the Ford party for fourth. His team changed the S60's engine after an issue with the head gasket in practice this morning.
"Fantastic - we rolled out pretty strong in practice, that's awesome," Mostert said.
"All our cars are pretty similar we've been working hard together. The cars are one, two, three, now we need to get it off the line and not make a mess."
DJR Team Penske's Scott Pye has earned his best qualifying result of the year in fifth, with Jamie Whincup alongside him on the third row.
Whincup'sRed Bull teammate Craig Lowndes rolled out late in the session and will start from 14th on the grid.
James Courtney was the best performer in the Walkinshaw squad, home eighth while Will Davison and James Moffat led the way for Erebus and Nissan in 10th and 12th respectively.
Shane van Gisbergen sits 11th in the order, but there arequestion marks over his position when it was reported the car was running warm up tyres on the rear and new tyres on the front. The penalty, if handed down, would be exclusion from the session.
A crank sensor issue saw Tim Slade in the pit lane most of the session.
