Scott McLaughlin is excited to take his Twitter commentary into broadcasting at the VALO Adelaide 500.

The three-time Supercars champion will offer special comments at the season finale.

McLaughlin, who finished fourth in the 2022 IndyCar season, recently returned to Australia.

It’s the first time the Kiwi has been Down Under since he left in late 2020.

He has kept a close eye on Supercars while Stateside, and often comments on Twitter while watching races.

McLaughlin enjoyed the trackside action at the recent Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.

There, he reconnected with the Supercars paddock, including his former squad Shell V-Power Racing Team.

He also caught up with champion-elect Shane van Gisbergen, who saluted McLaughlin with a Sunday burnout.

McLaughlin, a 56-time Supercars race winner, had an early taste of TV land at Surfers Paradise.

The 29-year-old spoke at length on a pit lane panel with Jess Yates and Mark Skaife.

In little over three weeks, McLaughlin will have to apply opinion away from team land, something he is excited to try.

“I’m going to have a lot of fun,” he told Supercars’ Cool Down Lap podcast.

“I don’t know what to expect, but I think it’s an opportunity for me to learn a different side of things with racing.

“You see me on Twitter, I love watching the racing all the time.

McLaughlin back Down Under

“I love commenting about it, it’s fun.”

McLaughlin’s cameo will come at a venue he scored victory at in 2019 and 2020.

The IndyCar race winner is the last Adelaide 500 winner, with the event missing out in 2021.

It will make a triumphant return on December 1-4 as the season finale.

However, McLaughlin believes van Gisbergen — who has won a record 21 races this year — will be the one to beat.

“I think Shane, to watch him first-hand at Adelaide, is going to be a pretty cool thing,” McLaughlin said.

“He’s unreal right now. It’s really cool to see."

The 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will conclude on the Adelaide streets in December.
