Can Red Bull Racing Australia's Jamie Whincup bounce back? Can Scott McLaughlin take a win from second on the grid? It's Race 22 of Coates Hire Ipswich 360.

Whincup and McLaughlin start from the front row, Whincup bagging ARMOR ALL Poles Position earlier today; followed by Fabian Coulthard, Mark Winterbottom and James Courtney and Craig Lowndes on the third row. 

The first Mercedes-Benz E63 is Tim Slade in p9, the first Nissan Todd Kelly in 13th, and last race winner Garth Tander has some work to do from 19th. 

It's a 60/60 Super Sprint race this afternoon, 120km split into two halves with a 15-minute break and a rolling double file restart to kick of the seconf half. 

Whincup gets a good start, jumps ahead of McLaughlin, Mark Winterbottom also looked good from the second row.

Lowndes makes contact with Winterbottom, pushes him wide crosses the line in fifth. Coulthard also caught up in it and has dropped to 15th. 

It's Whincup, McLaughlin, Lowndes, Courtney, Will Davison, Winterbottom, Reynolds, van Gisbergen, Slade, Alex Davison. Tander already up five spots into 14th at the end of lap two. 

Under investigation incident between 888 Lowndes, 5 Winterbottom, 14 Coulthard at turn three. 

L8 Bright passes Slade into the top 10. 

L10 Battle between Moffat, Premat, Todd Kelly, Ingall and Holdsworth fighting for p15.

50 percent through the first half of the race.

Craig Lowndes issue won't be dealt with until post-race.

Lap 12 and order at the front is Whincup, McLaughlin, Lowndes, Courtney, Winterbottom, Will Davison, van Gisbergen, Reynolds, Alex Davison, Bright. Tander has continued to carve up the field and is now in 11th after starting 19th. 

Some wheel to wheel contact between Coulthard and Mostert, L14.

Whincup recorded the fastest lap on the race last lap, 13, with a 1min10.5388.

LAP BY LAP PIC - Garth Tander recently passed Tim Slade for 11th, meaning he's made up eight positions since the start of the race:

One lap to go in the first half – still Whincup from McLaughlin, Lowndes, Winterbottom, Courtney, Will Davison. 

Leader has commenced the last lap of the first half. 

Drivers on the radio debriefing, talking about what they want for the second half – Winterbottom already communicating with his crew.

Half time has commenced. The cars will have a 15 minute break before resuming the race.

LAP BY LAP PIC - Lee Holdsworth hasn't had the best run – he qualified 17th in his Erebus Motorsport V8 Mercedes machine, but has finished the first half back in 24th: 

LAP BY LAP PIC - Maro Engel also having troubles, currently in last position for the restart. 12 minutes to go before the race resumes. Seems he has issues with his brakes. 

Coulthard's said it was disappointing to qualify at the front and end up at the back, but have to cop it on the chin. "We have to make a bit of a charge for the next (half)." 

Courtney says it's exciting to restart, but that it may be a bit hairy.

Craig Lowndes says he didn't hit Winterbottom.

Fifteen seconds to go in the break!

Pedders STP Safety Car is on track and has control of the field. 

Maro Engel was given permission to change brakes in the break. 

Cars are rolling along two by two...

Greeen flag! Great restart from Whincup. Incident free down to turn two. Top four will remain in original spots. 

David Wall turned around, and Webb also off the road – Webb straight into pit lane. 

L22 Big moment for Todd Kelly at T1 and Ingall passes for 18th.

Holdsworth sitting in pit lane with broken front suspension, Caruso also in pit lane. 

Bright and van Gisbergen battling for eigth. 

Coulthard off again, L25. Tander and Alex Davison both on the inside of car 14. 

Tander now in the top 10. 

Incident between Todd Kelly and Wall under investigation, between turns 4 and 5. 

L27 Winterbottom up the inside of Lowndes for third. Whincup and McLaughlin remain top two. 

L28 Tander up the inside of Bright. 

LAP BY LAP PIC - Double file restart:

 

Holdsworth speak about an incident between him, Fiore and Caruso, saying Fiore's move up the inside was a "dive bomb".

Rick Kelly's made up nine positions and is now in 14th, L31. 

LAP BY LAP PIC - Double file rolling restart, take two: 

L32 Mechanical black flag for Tim Slade, he's in 19th. 

L33 and it's Whincup, McLaughlin, Winterbottom, Lowndes, Courtney, Will Davison, Reynolds, Bright, Tander, Alex Davison making up the top 10. 

L34 Mostert passes van Gisbergen for 11th, but van Gisbergen switches back. Moffat will buy in from behind. 

Five laps to go. McLaughlin is 2.1586sec behind Whincup. 

Garry Rogers says he's impressed with McLaughlin's manner and he is "a thinker". 

Last lap – Whincup leads by 2.16sec now. Reynolds off the road from seventh and settles back in 24th. 

Whincup wins the 60/60 race, followed across the line ahead of McLaughlin. Big off for Mostert at turn six and tumbles down to 23rd after contact from behind by Todd Kelly.  

Third is Winterbottom, Lowndes (who will be investigated post-race), Courtney, Will Davison, Bright, Tander, Alex Davison, Moffat. Coulthard recovered to 11th, Rick Kelly 13th, nine positions ahead of he qualified.

LAP BY LAP PIC:

Whincup's gap in the Championship points has extended to 131 – 20 points more than coming into the race. He leads Craig Lowndes in the overall standings.
