The four-week break between Winton and Darwin couldn’t come sooner for Broc Feeney.

Feeney has been on the road for the balance of the last month.

He headed to Perth early to acclimatise himself with Wanneroo Raceway courtesy of a Radical.

A week after the Bunnings Trade SuperSprint, Feeney then dashed to Winton for a test day.

The teenager then flew to Bathurst for the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour.

There, he clinched an overall podium alongside Shane van Gisbergen and Prince Jefri Ibrahim.

From there, Feeney returned to Winton for the Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint.

Results of 10th, 12th and seventh saw Feeney return to his Gold Coast base seventh in the points.

At the very least, the Winton round brought some familiarity for the 19-year-old.

"It's only the second one I’ve been to this year that I’ve drove at," Feeney said of Winton on the Cool Down Lap podcast.

"I’m pretty glad to get this one out of the way, it’s pretty good to finish on a reasonable result.

"It’s gonna be good to have a break; I’ve been home only three days in the past three weeks.

"It’s gonna be good to get back, chill out and reset before we go Darwin."

It’s a different story for teammate van Gisbergen, who has jetted off to France for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Come June, and Feeney will at least have some more familiarity when it comes to Hidden Valley Raceway.

Feeney raced a Hyundai Excel in Darwin last year, which formed part of his plan to reach the main game.

Triple Eight has form in the Top End; van Gisbergen won both Sunday races in Darwin last year.

Feeney is ready for down time, but is equally keen to sharpen his tools as he aims to close the gap to van Gisbergen.

"I drove my Excel, so I’m fully prepared for Darwin," he joked.

"I went up there last year to cut a few laps, so I know the track.

"I think the cars are normally strong there, so I’m looking forward to that.

"I need to put in some big work between now and then to try and catch my teammate."
