Supercars has released 360-degree onboards of the Gen3 prototypes being lapped in Bathurst.

The new Gen3 Ford Mustang joined the Chevrolet Camaro on track last week.

The seventh-generation Ford was revealed at Mount Panorama last Thursday.

It was then lapped by none other than Dick Johnson, who gave the Ford its track debut.

The cars featured on the Friday and Saturday of the Repco Bathurst 1000.

There, both cars were put in the hands of five-time Great Race winner Steven Richards.

It marked the first time Richards had driven either car, with Luke Youlden also on hand.

Richards, son of seven-time Bathurst winner Jim, won Bathurst in Falcons and Commodores.

The second-generation driver first won the Bathurst 1000 with Jason Bright and Stone Brothers Racing in 1998.

He combined with Greg Murphy to win aboard a Gibson Motorsport Holden in 1999.

Richards won the 2013 race with Mark Winterbottom, before winning in 2015 and 2018 with Craig Lowndes.

The 360-degree onboards follow the onboards shot at The Bend in July.

Supercars also designed a special mount that fastened the 360-degree cameras in Townsville.

There, the Mustang and Camaro were viewed from the perspective of the rear wing.

All 360-degree videos are available to view now on the official Supercars YouTube channel.

It comes after Supercars released 360-degree onboard vision from Alex Davison's Porsche at May's LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour.

Davison raced around the Mount Panorama Circuit into twilight at the international event.

The Gen3 cars have undergone an extensive testing programme at tracks and airstrips this year.

The return to Bathurst brought the cars full circle, given they were first revealed last December.

The 2022 season will continue at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on October 28-30.
