Zak Best is determined to put everything he learned at Hidden Valley to good effect in Tailem Bend.

Best will make his second wildcard start of 2022 at this weekend’s OTR SuperSprint.

The Tickford Racing driver was beaten from pillar to post on debut in Darwin.

His weekend ended in retirement following contact with Garry Jacobson.

Best returned to the seat of his Super2 Falcon in Townsville, and scored a pole and a second in Race 1.

The Benalla driver will be one of two wildcards at The Bend, with Jordan Boys making his second start.

Boys made his solo debut in an Image Racing Commodore at Winton.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend and having another crack in the main game,” Best said.

"Darwin was pretty tough but it was a great learning experience and I’m keen to put everything I learned to use this weekend.

"It’s good to have one event under my belt and the team to have one as well.

"I think we can be a lot more competitive this weekend and hopefully have a clean, solid run.”

Best will race with Thomas Randle at October’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

Tickford boss Tim Edwards suggested being roughed up in Darwin only helped Best's development.

"We’re looking forward to having Zak back with us as a wildcard,” Edwards said.

"Darwin was a big learning experience but I think that showed him the kind of step up it is from Super2 to Supercars.

“He’ll be well prepared and hopefully will be one of five Tickford Mustangs to have a strong run this weekend."

Cars will hit the track at the OTR SuperSprint on Saturday. Purchase your tickets now.
