DJR pays tribute to Shell milestone with livery tweak

Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustangs will feature a special tribute to mark 120 years of Shell in Australia.

A message will be displayed on the two Dick Johnson Racing Fords’ rear wings at this weekend’s Winton SuperSprint to mark the occasion.

"We'd like to congratulate Shell for reaching this incredible milestone," said team chairman and CEO, Ryan Story.

"The Shell brand has been servicing Australian's since the year of Federation in 1901.

"A truly iconic and recognisable brand, they've always supported customers first.

"The Shell retail brand, including Shell V-Power, continues to live on through local licensee, Viva Energy Australia.

"Shell continues to also operate in Australia through exploration and production activities, including the impressive engineering achievement that is Prelude FLNG, the largest floating liquid natural gas platform in the world.

"Dick Johnson Racing's naming rights association with Viva Energy as the Shell V-Power Racing Team is one that we're incredibly proud of, and to think that Dick Johnson's own association with Shell extends back over 50 years is truly remarkable.

"It's a special partnership, a true partnership, and one that is iconic in Australian sport.”

Team founder Dick Johnson added: "Shell are celebrating their 120th birthday in Australia, and I'd like to congratulate our good friends, past and current, for this very special milestone.

"I've been closely involved with Shell for just about half of those years, starting back in 1967, and my team has benefited immensely from Shell's heritage, innovation, and most importantly performance over the past 53 years.

"I've been fairly close to the Shell brand for many years - even back when I was a service station owner - and to see the growth and the change in the business over all those years is extraordinary.

The team is the form outfit at Winton, winning four of the last six races and taking five of the last six pole positions.

The Repco Supercars Championship field will return to Victoria for the Winton SuperSprint across May 28-30. Tickets are available here.
