The Shell V-Power Racing Team and team partners have contributed to the Darwin community by donating new laptops to students.

The team is in Darwin ahead of this weekend’s official Indigenous Round of Supercars, the betr Darwin Triple Crown.

Both Dick Johnson Racing Fords will carry artwork by revered artist Zoe Raymond for the June 16-18 event.

Supercars is collaborating with the Northern Territory Government, Northern Territory Major Events Company, and Larrakia Nation in honouring Darwin for the 2023 Indigenous Round.

Through Supercars Indigenous Round and motorsport programs such as Racing Together, the aim is to familiarise Indigenous individuals with the event, the sport, and the teams, while actively engaging with the local community.

DJR — in collaboration with its partners DXC Technology, Viva Energy Australia (Shell Licensee) and Penske Australia — announced the donation of 30 laptops devices to students at Malak Primary School.

Anton De Pasquale’s race-ready Ford Mustang Supercar — complete in its new Indigenous livery — was also on site, as was the team transporter.

Star driver De Pasquale was on-site to help donate the laptops to students, who also got to meet the driver.

The donation was part of the DXC Digital Futures Program, which is supported by DJR.

The initiative — which also involves DeadlyScience and LiteHaus International — has helped over 10,000 students through the provision of refurbished technology equipment to foundations, not-for-profit organisations, schools, community student programs, community-controlled health services and community councils.

Students from Malak Primary School were invited to DXC Arena in Darwin, where they were presented with the laptops.

Students also had a chance to participate in a series of cricket clinics organised by NT Cricket, as well as a game with the ICC Under 19’s players, who are in Darwin for the regional world cup qualifiers.

Feature cars from team partner, Supercars title sponsor and Australasian automotive aftermarket retailer, Repco, were also showcased.

"We’re very proud of the collaboration between our partners at DXC Technology, Viva Energy Australia and Penske Australia, who generously contributed 30 laptops to this amazing community initiative,” DJR CEO David Noble said.

"It’s also very special for us to be able to share our newly revealed 2023 Indigenous Livery with the students at Malak Primary School ahead of the Darwin Triple Crown Supercars event this weekend.

"It's been wonderful that Repco have also been able to join this experience to give Malak Primary School students, what we hope, will be an unforgettable experience.”

Seelan Nayagam, President of DXC Technology Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa added: “It’s wonderful to see a collaboration with like-minded organisations, all contributing to improve educational and societal outcomes and increase digital inclusivity for schools and communities in the Northern Territory.

"Working with our customers and partners on initiatives like this means they get the opportunity to donate refurbished devices and participate in meaningful community projects, whilst meeting their ESG goals.”

Jevan Bouzo, CEO — Convenience and Mobility, Viva Energy Australia (Shell Licensee) said: “Viva Energy Australia is proud to participate in DXC’s Digital Futures program which brings the power of technology to indigenous primary schools.

"We understand the importance of learning and education and this transformative laptop program helps to nurture a generation of young minds and paves the way for boundless possibilities and fosters a brighter future for all.”

Cars will hit the track for Practice 1 at Hidden Valley Raceway at 10:45pm local time.
