Anton De Pasquale and Shane van Gisbergen have taken the Sunday ARMOR ALL Pole Positions at a water-logged Sydney Motorsport Park.

De Pasquale, who was forced to start last following an electrical issue on Saturday, scored his eighth pole of the season for Race 24.

Later, van Gisbergen claimed his sixth pole of the year and will launch from the front row for both races.

Chaz Mostert will start the night race alongside van Gisbergen, who claimed his first pole position at SMSP.

Rain hit the Eastern Creek venue as cars hit the track for the first 10-minute session.

Van Gisbergen laid down a 1:43.067s marker, before De Pasquale emerged through the spray with a 1:41.595s.

The series leader improved to a 1:42.118s, with Walkinshaw Andretti United duo Chaz Mostert and Bryce Fullwood 0.2s behind.

Waters was third between the two WAU entries, but triggered a red flag when he aquaplaned off at Turn 1.

Waters managed to extract his car from the gravel trap, but having triggered the stoppage, had his time wiped and was forced to sit out the remainder of the session.

Davison managed to cross the line before the chequered flag flew, but was unable to improve on fifth.

It ensured De Pasquale and van Gisbergen will share the front row, with Mostert and Fullwood making it an all WAU second row.

Davison will share the third row with James Courtney, with Scott Pye, Andre Heimgartner, Jamie Whincup and Saturday pole-sitter Will Brown rounding out the top 10.

Luke Youlden, who is standing in for David Reynolds at Kelly Grove Racing, impressed to 11th.

Waters was 17th all told, two positions behind Nick Percat and two positions ahead of Brodie Kostecki.

Todd Hazelwood, who gambled on dry tyres early in the session, brought up the rear of the grid.

Conditions seemingly improved for the Race 25 session, but van Gisbergen’s pole-winning 1:42.065s was over half a second adrift of De Pasquale’s earlier flyer.

The balance of the field returned on a brand new set of Dunlop wet tyres, and van Gisbergen again set the early running with a 1:43.397s.

Davison lowered the benchmark to a 1:43.019s, before van Gisbergen and Whincup went quicker again.

Brown suffered a similar off to Waters at Turn 1, but managed to avoid a similar fate. He could only managed 18th, five places behind teammate Kostecki.

Youlden again impressed to qualify 12th, with teammate Heimgartner fifth behind van Gisbergen, Mostert, De Pasquale and Percat.

Whincup was seventh, 0.724s adrift of his teammate.

Race 24 will commence at 4:35pm AEDT, with Race 25 to round out the ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight at 7:30pm.
