The Gen3 project and new leadership offers a reset for Shell V-Power Racing Team in 2023, says Will Davison.

Davison and De Pasquale have had two mixed years on track, combining for 26 poles and 10 wins.

The team has had major change away from the track with Gen3 and leadership change.

Dick Johnson Racing is Ford’s homologation team, and has spent the best part of two years on the Gen3 project.

The team has spearheaded the design of the Ford’s Gen3 challenger, which will debut next year.

Midway through the year, it was announced that the Ralph family had bought into the team.

Then, during Adelaide, it was announced that former AFL coach David Noble had been appointed the team’s new CEO.

Given the massive work behind the scenes, Davison believes the team is well-positioned to make a statement next year.

“It’s been a massive year,” Davison told Supercars’ Cool Down Lap podcast.

“You never want to go into the off-season with a negative… but we’re pushing hard.

“That fire in the belly will fuel me in the off-season.

“Definitely exciting times. There have been some big changes in the team, it’s all really positive.

“I can’t wait to get back into work and see these new cars come to life.

“David started at the team, he’s chomping at the bit to get started in the office.

“There’s a lot of stuff happening — it’s a reset and the start of an exciting new chapter for DJR.”

With Noble joining the team, long-time boss Dr Ryan Story will step down from day-to-day running of the business.

Story is currently the Executive Chairman, but will remain the Non-Executive Chairman.

Story will remain a fixture of the team, and played a key role in Davison’s signing for 2021 — something that wasn’s lost on the driver.

“Ryan’s heart and soul of the team,” Davison said.

“I’m sure we’ll still have him around, engaged and in touch, as he was this year.

Story with De Pasquale in 2021

“He was a big part of this whole process going forwards.

“I don’t think anything will change on that front, which is exciting.

“He implemented these things in place for a reason — it’s not that he wants to step away, he loves it.

“He loves this team — I’m very grateful for Ryan and what he did for me.

“We love him, and hopefully see him some more."

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle next March.

Tickets are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
