Darwin to join exclusive race start landmark list

Hidden Valley Raceway will become just the fifth circuit in ATCC/Supercars history to reach 70 races.
The upcoming Merlin Darwin Triple Crown will host Races 16, 17 and 18 of the 2022 season.
The only Territory circuit on the calendar made its championship debut in 1998.
Craig Lowndes won the very first race, before Russell Ingall reeled off four in a row across 1998 and 1999.
Commodores won 15 of the first 16 races in the Top End between 1998 and 2003.
Sunday's first race will help Darwin draw level with Winton on 69 races.

The finale will take Hidden Valley to an even 70, a marker achieved by Sydney Motorsport Park last November.
It comes after Perth's Wanneroo Raceway and Tasmania's Symmons Plains both reached 90 races.
Symmons Plains got there first in Race 5 at March's NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint.
Wanneroo Raceway, which hadn't hosted Supercars since 2019, went two better across the course of the Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight.
Mark Skaife and Scott McLaughlin are the most successful drivers in Darwin with eight wins each.
Shane van Gisbergen and Mark Winterbottom are the most successful active drivers with four apiece.
