Two of world motorsport’s most coveted trophies have united ahead of this year’s 60th anniversary of the Repco Bathurst 1000.

The Peter Brock Trophy, awarded to the winners of the Bathurst 1000, is on a journey to this year’s race.

The trophy is on loan from 2022 winners Triple Eight, which has had it on display at its Banyo base.

The trophy traveled over 15,000km to the United States this week, and reunited with 2019 winner Scott McLaughlin.

McLaughlin, now an IndyCar driver for Team Penske, won the 2019 Great Race for DJR Team Penske with Alex Premat.

The trophy has since arrived at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and put on display with the famous Borg-Warner Trophy.

The original Borg-Warner Trophy is on display at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum in Speedway, Indiana.

McLaughlin’s Team Penske teammate, Josef Newgarden, won the 2023 Indianapolis 500 last weekend.

Each year, the winning driver is presented with a miniature replica dubbed the 'Baby Borg’ — the same is done with the Brock Trophy.

The original Borg-Warner Trophy was commissioned at a cost of $10,000. Today, it is insured in excess of $1.3 million.

The Peter Brock Trophy travelled to the US direct from the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint.

It will return to Australia and be on display for fans at next week’s pre-event signing session at Darwin’s Waterfront.

There, current championship drivers will join the autograph session from 5:00pm to 6:30pm local time.

The 2023 season will resume at the betr Darwin Triple Crown on June 16-18.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 will be held on October 5-8. Tickets for all events are on sale now.
