A costly clash for Anton De Pasquale drop out of the top three in the points for the first time this season.

De Pasquale suffered damage in a second-lap incident at the penultimate corner while holding third.

Shane van Gisbergen checked up Will Davison, who was hit from behind by De Pasquale.

The #11 Shell V-Power Ford jumped into the air, with De Pasquale having the presence of mind to pit immediately.

De Pasquale lost six laps due to repairs, and he was classified 23rd.

With van Gisbergen and Davison first and second, De Pasquale dropped to fourth in the championship.

It came after he dropped to second behind Cam Waters at the OTR SuperSprint.

“It wasn’t the best day,” he said.

“Had an average qualy session and then a solid one in the second session.

"Race pace in the first race was good, I was able to make up a few positions.

"In the second race, I got caught up in a concertina in that last race which bent the front end.”

With Broc Feeney third, Shell V-Power Racing Team lost even more ground in the teams’ championship.

Red Bull Ampol Racing team opened up a 196-point lead over their Ford rivals.

The margin heading to Sandown was 121 points.

Regardless, Shell V-Power Racing Team mechanics were able to salvage De Pasquale’s race.

It came just hours after the team repaired Davison’s car for the second qualifying session.

Davison was forced into the lane with a smoking car due to an electrical fire.

Team Principal Ben Croke was impressed with the quick fix, with De Pasquale classified a finisher.

“Just some front suspension stuff,” Croke said.

“He got a bit of help in the back as well, which put him into Will.

“Front suspension, front bumper, some bits like that.

“The guys did a ripper job to turn it around and try and drag a few points out of it.”
