Jason Bright is still looking to win thatelusive Championship and believes Brad Jones Racing is the place to do it.

While the Team BOC driver acknowledged the team went through a rough patch mid-2014, Bright felt BJR was back on-track in time for the final event in Sydney and is ready to push on in 2015.

BJR had been tight-lipped about Bright's contract, up at the end of last year, but the veteran will race with the squad this season and hasn't given up hope of earning a V8 Supercars Championship title.

"It's good to continue on, we've got a reasonably good thing going here and it's a good environment, so I was pretty keen to try and continue it on," Bright told v8supercars.com.au.

"I feel like we've got a good little group - we went through a bit of a quiet patch for a while there ... but I feel like we're back on track."

The 41-year old admits there was a reasonable period in 2014 he didn't feel they were in contention for even a pole position - but that all changed at the final event in Sydney, where he clinched p1 and finished all three races in the top 10. Bright finished the season in 11th, having earned three poles and one win across the 14 Championship events.

Although he is now the oldest driver in the field (after Russell Ingall's retirement), Bright believes he can take it to Jamie Whincup and challenge for the title.

"I still feel I can mix it with the best of them," Bright said.

"I feel like [Sydney] showed that - we got pole, Jamie beat us but he had probably a tenth or two each lap, we were able to hold our own with Shane and Scott and everyone like that.

"But the hard part is, when you're qualifying outside of the top 10 you don't look like you can keep up with those guys. We just need to qualify better."

Bright suggested another key part of improvement would be having the crews on the three BJR cars (his, Fabian Coulthard's and Dale Wood's) working together more closely, rather than going in their own directions.

"We've definitely got areas where we can still improve and we've learnt a lot this [past] year about our engines - I think we've still got some areas we can improve there...

"I think as a team we need to work harder together, stay together, because in the past we've all gone in different directions ... it's not so much we didn't want to work together, it's more that everyone has their own ideas on how it should be done and you just end up with differences.

"[Now] we're talking the same language. And hopefully we continue to work as a team."

Team boss Brad Jones believed Bright was still performing well, agreed the team had found its way again at the end of the 2014 season - and is gearing up to challenge for the 2015 title.

"Brighty is still driving really well, getting pole positions, winning races and he's more than capable of winning Championships," Jones told v8supercars.com.au.

Bright will be looking for more consistency this season - and a better start at the Clipsal 500, which was disastrous last year when the #8 Team BOC Commodore had a monumental rollover during Sunday's 250km race.

"When teams are on top of their game, the Championship just unfolds. We have our good days and our bad days and mistakes that catch you out - whether it's a mistake on drivers' behalf or a team," Bright said.

"When you've got a couple of extra tenths up your sleeve, those things are a lot easier to control. The first thing that we need to work on is making sure we've always got that pace - it creates less unforced errors."
