Belt buckle trophies bring new look to 2025 NTI Townsville 500
This week’s event swaps classic silverware for custom-made belt buckle trophies
New trophies add an extra dash of North Queensland flair to event
This week’s NTI Townsville 500 will swap classic silverware for custom-made belt buckle trophies — adding an extra dash of North Queensland flair to the most unique event on the Repco Supercars Championship calendar.
Specially designed to reflect the region’s character and high-energy atmosphere, the bespoke belt buckles will be awarded to Supercars’ three race winners across all three days of the event.
Event Manager Matt Ramsden said the new trophies were designed to match the character of this year’s event, that in a world-first will feature Pro Bull Riding and Summernats Goes Troppo
“Townsville has always done things differently — and this year, so will our trophies,” Ramsden said.
“These custom belt buckles celebrate the rugged, bold spirit of North Queensland. They're not just trophies — they’re keepsakes and something our winners will remember forever.”
“Between the Supercars action, PBR bull riding, Summernats burnouts and MotorEx show cars, this year’s NTI Townsville 500 is a celebration of North Queensland’s biggest annual sporting event. The new-look trophies reflect that perfectly.”
Designed in the US by Eddie Fisher of Ride Tuff Buckles, Fisher said: “First I started playing with a special design that I really liked, then adding ideas to the buckle design that I would like on a buckle if I won it.
“I added something extra to make it unique with a flavour for car racing, inspirations I thought of while designing it.”
The belt buckle trophies are just one of many exciting additions to this year’s three-day extravaganza, which will feature a world-first Australia vs New Zealand Professional Bull Riding showdown on Friday night. Any NTI Townsville 500 ticket holder for Friday will have access to the live bull riding event, with the arena built behind the Supercars paddock.
Friday night’s entertainment will also include a performance by Australian Idol winner and rising Country Music star, Dylan Wright.
Summernats Goes Troppo, featuring the Pro Burnout Series, MotorEx Alley, elite car builds, the Horsepower Heroes dyno competition, the Flying Spanners engine challenge and the Street Machine tough car show and shine will also feature across all three days.
Tickets for the 2025 NTI Townsville 500 — to be held from 11–13 July — are available now through Supercars.com.
