V8 Supercarchampion Jamie Whincup reckons he has got one up on his Kiwi rivals ahead ofnext month’s ITM 400 Auckland race at the revamped Pukekohe Park Raceway.

Whincupdrove Auckland Mayor Len Brown from his office through downtown Auckland to thefamed Viaduct on the waterfront in the Red Bull Holden today.

Thefour-time V8 Supercars champion said it was a thrill and an honour.

“Wow thatwas great. To get to drive the Mayor in the Red Bell Holden race car down QueenStreet and the waterfront is a real honour and a lot of fun,” Whincup said.

“I cansense the hype and it is great to have the Auckland Council behind this event,and I am also looking forward to going back to Pukekohe with all the fantasticchanges there.

“The onlything is with the Kiwis winning four races this year is something we can notlet continue to happen so it will be all on at Pukekohe.”

Mayor Brownsaid he found the experience exhilarating.

“I can’twait to have a full hot lap. That was so exciting. Auckland is a great sportingcity and we are ready and looking forward to hosting the V8 Supercars at theITM 400 Auckland.”

Tickets areon sale from Ticketek for the V8 Supercars ITM 400 Auckland at Pukekohe ParkRaceway on 12-14 April for as little as NZ$30 plus fees, with three-day generaladmission for NZ$110 and new improved three-day grandstand tickets from NZ$145.Kids 12 and under receive free GA entry into the event with a paying adult.Patrons who pre-purchase tickets will have special event services by train orbus from Auckland included in the price.
