Army Cadet Volunteers to join Supercars crew at 2025 events
More than 40 cadets will participate at the NTI Townsville 500
Volunteers will join crews at Bathurst, Gold Coast, Sandown
Supercars has partnered with the Australian Army Cadets to launch an exciting new volunteer initiative, providing Cadet volunteers with the opportunity to work behind the scenes at some of Australia’s biggest motorsport events.
Following the program’s debut at the NTI Townsville 500 in July where more than 40 cadets will participate, Army Cadet volunteers will next join Supercars crews at three major events in 2025: the Repco Bathurst 1000, the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 and the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.
As part of the program, participating Cadets will receive exclusive behind-the-scenes access and experiences not available to the general public. Cadets will partake in the Supercars Coates Volunteers program, gaining firsthand experience across a variety of Event Official roles, while also receiving valuable, hands-on exposure to the dynamic environment of large-scale motorsport events.
Supercars CEO Shane Howard said the program reflects the strong and enduring partnership between Supercars and the Australian Defence Force.
“This partnership with Army Cadets is an extension of our long-standing ties with the ADF, and we are proud to be offering these young Australians the opportunity to work alongside our team and experience what it takes to deliver some of the biggest sporting events in the country,” Howard said.
“It’s a unique way to recognise the dedication of these volunteers and inspire them through teamwork, leadership, and real-world experience.”
The initiative is expected to expand further in 2026, with the aim of including Army Cadet volunteers at the majority of Australian rounds on the Supercars Championship calendar.
The Australian Defence Force will be on-site at July’s NTI Townsville 500 with an immersive interactive experience for fans to get up close to, featuring an array or armoured vehicles including a tank, the Australian Light Armoured Vehicle, Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles, weapons displays and unit capability displays.
Fans will also be treated to exclusive ADF Army musical performances from Townsville’s own 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment Band and 3rd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment Pipes and Drums.
Supercars thanks the Australian Army Cadets and the ADF for their continued support and looks forward to welcoming Cadet volunteers to more events across the country in the future.
