Fans will get the chance to meet with their favourite Repco Supercars Championship drivers on the eve of this year’s NTI Townsville 500 at a new all-in signing session location of the Jezzine Barracks on Townsville’s famous Strand.

Townsville will be welcoming Supercars to town with a street party celebration at the Barracks on Thursday 4 July, from 5:00pm to 5:50pm.

Fans can grab a free poster and get an autograph from their favourite driver with all 24 Championship drivers ready to meet with fans at an all-in autograph session from 5:00pm.

The free community event is open to everyone.

Supercars drivers Ryan Wood and James Golding were joined in Townsville to make the announcement of off-track entertainment by Courage - the Wedge Tailed Eagle, who serves as mascot of Townsville’s 2nd Cavalry Regiment.

Courage is expected to be at the autograph session with fans and could possibly be sighted at the NTI Townsville 500 as he was in 2023.

Supercars Chief Operating Officer Tim Watsford said the Thursday night signing session was the perfect way to lead into a weekend of high-octane racing action: “We love the Thursday night event, it is a great opportunity for the city to come together, celebrate and meet the drivers who will be racing around our Reid Park track.

“We have a great partnership with ADF and the army here in Townsville and the Barracks is the perfect spot to catch up with drivers before they begin racing at Reid Park.

“Thursday’s signing session sets the stage for an incredible weekend of racing at the NTI Townsville 500, and we want fans to be right in the heart of the action.”

The Thursday night activities at Jezzine Barracks will follow Wednesday’s annual Transporter Parade through the heart of Townsville on Wednesday from 12pm – 1:30pm where fans are encouraged to line the streets and cheer on the team b-doubles carrying more than $25 million worth of equipment.

Off track entertainment this year will also include the Saturday night performance at the event of three of Australian global superstars Tones And I, G Flip and Cyril.

The concert is included in a same day event ticket for fans, being a three-day, two-day, Saturday Trackside, Grandstand or Corporate ticket.

This year marks the 15th anniversary since Supercars first raced in Townsville, with the first ever race in North Queensland won by Hall of Fame inductee, Jamie Whincup.

Tickets for general admission, Corporate Hospitality and Grandstands for the 2024 NTI Townsville 500 from 5-7 July are available through Supercars.com.

The NTI Townsville 500 is proudly supported by Townsville City Council and the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland Major Events Program.
