Outsider Elmer Johnson shook up GM

Most of Elmer JohnsonÂs career was spent as a corporate attorney, but in Detroit the former GM executive will be remembered for helping shake up GM and the industry in the mid-1980s. Johnson died Feb. 19 in Arizona after a long battle with cancer.
