Dunlop tyres turn pink for Bathurst
Dunlop Tyres will again be going PINK at the 2022 Supercars Repco Bathurst 1000 to raise awareness of breast cancer and support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF)
For a third consecutive year, Dunlop Tyres will donate $50 for every pitstop of every Supercar during the Repco Bathurst 1000 on Sunday October 9 to help the NBCF fund game-changing breast cancer research.
As the official control tyre of the Supercars since 2002, this will be the 21st year Supercars have raced on Dunlop Tyres at Bathurst. The tyres for this year’s race will feature bespoke pink Dunlop Sport Maxx branding on the tyres to highlight the partnership with the NBCF.
Dunlop’s brand assets will also be pink to help drive awareness of the importance of breast cancer research. The Dunlop Motorsport team will wear pink uniforms, track signage will feature pink branding.
"Pink logo decals will feature on the Dunlop Super2 and Super3 entries and the Dunlop Grid Kids will wear pink Dunlop hats and hold pink Dunlop flags on the grid moments before the great race starts. Even the iconic Dunlop Podium Caps will feature a pink ribbon!
Goodyear & Dunlop Tyres Managing Director Chris Radin said the team was pleased to again play its part in raising awareness of the disease that takes the life of nine Australians each day.
"With October being breast cancer awareness month, we are proud to play our part in raising breast cancer awareness with the massive Bathurst TV viewing audience for the third successive year," Radin said.
"Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia – with 1 in 7 women and 1in 700 men diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime."
Supercars Chief Executive Officer Shane Howard said: "The number of women involved in our sport through volunteering, participation and administration continues to increase, which is why initiatives such as this are so important.
"We are honoured to be supporting Dunlop’s initiative at Bathurst as it will help fund vital research that will help increase survival rates."
"Some of our drivers and others within our sport have personally lost loved ones to this awful disease.
"We’re proud to be playing our part alongside Dunlop to raise awareness through the pink tyre initiative again in 2022.
NBCF CEO Associate Professor Cleola Anderiesz: "NBCF is working towards a goal of Zero Deaths from breast cancer. As NBCF is 100% community funded, corporate support through initiatives like this one is paramount to helping us reach this goal. We are so proud that Dunlop is aligned to NBCF’s mission. Together, we can create a better tomorrow for those impacted by breast cancer."
The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia's leading national body funding breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.
Their mission is Zero Deaths by breast cancer through funding and championing world-class research that will ultimately save lives.
The Dunlop goes PINK program will be promoted through Dunlop’s social channels as well as those of the NBCF. Race fans will be asked to join the drive to raise funds via a dedicated Dunlop Tyres fundraising page.
