The latest instalment of the Inside Line – A Season with Triple Eight will delve into Craig Lowndes’ emotional 2006 Bathurst 1000 victory.

The fourth episode of the highly anticipated series focuses on the brilliant career of the seven-time Great Race winner.

Viewers will be given Lowndes’ perspective of the 2006 Bathurst 1000, which is arguably one of Mount Panorama's greatest and most emotional races.

The biggest crowd in the event's history descended on the Mountain to witness Lowndes honour his late mentor Peter Brock in victorious style.

The three-time Supercars champion recounts his never-before-seen reaction to receiving a hug from Bev Brock before the race and steering Brock’s 1972 race-winning Torana in a parade lap before the start.

The episode includes vision from the state funeral held for nine-time Bathurst winner Brock, as well Neil Crompton’s moving eulogy to the Hall of Famer.

"It is probably the most emotional race that I’ve had to do, and it will always be the best victory that I’ll ever achieve,” Lowndes said.

"There’s no doubt that for me, it’s a race I look back on and am most proud of.”

The one-hour episode also follows how Lowndes’ was recruited by Triple Eight Managing Director and Team Principal Roland Dane in 2005, to achieving 100 wins, through to his emotional announcement of his retirement in 2018.
