Taz Douglas returns to the PIRTEK Enduro Cup this year with Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport after missing out on a seat in 2016.

The Melbourne-based driver acted as a sub for LDM in the opening four events of 2017 aboard its #3 Commodore before returning for the enduros alongside Aaren Russell.

Having scored numerous karting titles in his junior years – including the Ford Kart Stars Series – Douglas took time out from motor racing in 2003 and 2004 to pursue his other passion, surfing. He returned to motorsport the following year, making his Formula Ford debut in the Victorian Championship, finishing fourth.

In 2006, Douglas won the title and caught the eye of the HSV Dealer Team, working with the squad and testing its Commodore in the second half of the season. But at the start of 2010, Douglas was diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma and sidelined from racing.

He endured several months of intense chemotherapy but bounced back in 2011 to race in the Dunlop Series full-time. 2012 saw Douglas complete at stint in the V8 Supercars Championship with Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport before he was recruited to co-drive with James Moffat in the PIRTEK Enduro Cup in 2013.

He continued to race in the Dunlop Series sparingly to maintain his race fitness for the enduros, which paid off in 2014 when he finsihed second alongisde James Moffat at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

After again teaming with Moffat in 2015, Douglas missed out on an enduro seat last year but still did plenty of Supercars driving, winning the third-tier V8 Touring Car Series and finishing fifth in the Dunlop Series.
