Traffic management will be in force from 8pm, Friday 28 June 2019 to 5am, Tuesday 9 July 2019.  

Traffic diversions will be in place before and after the Supercars event due to the installation and removal of event infrastructure. To avoid delays please use alternative routes: or even better take public transport!

Bus Services

Sunbus will be operating dedicated Supercars bus services to and from the Reid Park Precinct.

Patrons and event staff travelling to and from the event, in possession of an event ticket or accreditation pass are permitted free travel on the dedicated Supercars routes across Saturday and Sunday of the event. Travel on all other Sunbus services will incur a regular fare.

Taxis

  • Taxis will drop off and pick up from Gate 1 and Gate 3.

Free Parking

  • On street parking near the event precinct is not recommended. Illegal parking, or parking causing an impediment for a local resident to access their home or business will be monitored and will result in a fine or the vehicle being towed. See the regulated parking section for further details. 
  • Free parking is available at Dean Street Car Park, which is approximately 1.5km walk to the event precinct (closest access via Gate 3). 

Accessible Car Parking

There are a number of Accessible parking spots available at the following locations:

  • First Street, near Gate 3.
  • Brodie Street, Carpark A, by the Transit Centre. NOTE – this is not a public carpark, so you will need to show your disabled parking permit.
  • Townsville State High School (pre-pay or pay on the day).

Drop Off Zone

  • There is a dedicated drop-off point located near Gate 3 at First Street and by the Transit Centre at Gate 1 on Brodie Street.

Road Closures

Friday, 28 June 8pm – Tuesday, 9 July 5am

  • Boundary Street – Railway Avenue to Woolcock Street
  • Charters Towers Road – Boundary Street to Ingham Road

Car Park Closures 

These car parks are restricted to Emergency Service access only:

  • Flinders Street East Car Park (closest to the roundabout) – Half of the car park will be closed from Thursday 4 July to Sunday 7 July.
  • Sturt Street Car Park (between Walker and Sturt Street) – From Friday 5 July to Sunday 7 July.

Regulated Parking Area

  • A regulated event parking area will be in place, around Reid Park.
  • The regulated area is in place to stop non-residents from parking on the streets affected and will be in force from 7am to 7pm on Friday 5, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July.
  • A two hour limit will apply to any vehicle parked on the street during this time. Fines will apply.
  • Residents living within the regulated area will need to display a Resident Parking Permit. These will be posted to residents before the event.
