Biography
Supercheap Auto returns as a title sponsor of a Walkinshaw Racing Commodore in 2014.
The WR entity has existed since 2001, when two Kmart Racing Commodores were run alongside the Holden Racing Team entries. The Kmart Racing outfit proved successful, winning back-to-back Bathurst 1000s in 2003-04.
Kmart Racing morphed into various guises including the championship-winning HSV Dealer Team, Bundaberg Racing and most recently SCAR, but while the branding may have changed, the core ingredients remained constant.
WR’s owner, Tom Walkinshaw also founded Australia’s best known high performance brand, Holden Special Vehicles in 1988 – it has since produced over 60,000 vehicles for Australian, New Zealand and international markets.
WR’s wealth of resources and talented staff will ensure the Supercheap Auto Racing VF Commodore continues to be prepared meticulously – it will be driven by talented South Australian Tim Slade in 2014.
