Biography
Former racer Lucas Dumbrell remains the youngest team owner in the V8 Supercar Championship Series as he enters his fifth year at the helm of Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport.
At 19, Dumbrell established the team after an accident in a Formula Ford at Oran Park in late 2008 left him a quadriplegic and stripped him of his life long dream of competing in V8 Supercars as a driver.
Dumbrell didn’t lose his passion for motorsport and purchased a REC from the now-defunct Sprint Gas Racing and formed alliance with Walkinshaw Racing for the first two years.
The first season saw Daniel Gaunt, Cameron McConville, Mark Noske and Nathan Pretty take the seat, before Warren Luff drove for the duration of 2011.
In 2013, the team branched out to two cars, signing Scott Pye and Dean Fiore. Pye scored the team’s best sixth at Bathurst, although the team wasn’t able to fulfil its true potential due to a number of major crashes.
The team has undergone a major restructure in the off-season and will field one entry in 2014 supplied by Triple Eight Race Engineering.
Signing Russell Ingall has been a major boost, bringing the experience required to help guide the young team forward towards the goal of becoming one of V8 Supercars' top teams.
