HQ Racing 30 Year Anniversary Car Display

The concept of racing HQ Holdens was 'invented' in Tasmania in 1988.

Local sports sedan driver, Ian Beechey, came up with the idea of racing a standard HQ holden.

Following an agreement to put ten HQ’s on the Baskerville Raceway track Ian and his mates wrote up a set of rules and on 3 October 1988 the first HQ holden race was held.

The rest, as the saying goes, is history.

HQ racing will be celebrating their 30 year anniversary at the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint with a car display.

Be sure to visit the display, in the family area (located just outside turn 1) and inspect the vehicles and chat with the drivers.

Then catch them on the track on Saturday at 1:30pm during the entertainment session.
