Saturday Night Thrills
This year’s 14th instalment of racing on the streets of Townsville’s famed Reid Park Street Circuit will feature a night-time extravaganza that will thrill fans of all ages.
The event will for the first time in Townsville, see displays by some of Australia’s most-powerful drag cars along with the popular Hot Wheels Stunt Team, headed up by the legendary Matt Mingay and performances by the high-flying Airtime FMX Team.
Off track, Aussie rock star and Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson will perform on the Saturday night, after the winner of a brand-new Battle of the Bands competition takes to the stage to rock in front of thousands of fans at the track precinct at the Saturday Night Thrills concert.
The entertainment will end with a firework display following Jamieson’s performance which will include covers of rock hits and original music.
Having spent over two decades entertaining crowds both as a solo artist and as the front man of the ARIA-winning Australian outfit Grinspoon, the evolution of Phil Jamieson as a musician and songwriter has been one that fans have been able to follow closely.
To kick off a new year and a new chapter of creativity, Phil Jamieson announces the release of new singles ‘Kapow!’ and ‘Rubberband’. Two tracks that highlight Jamieson’s talents as an emotive songwriter and storyteller, also featuring additional guitars and production courtesy of Davey Lane (You Am I), this new music is a perfect addition to what has become an impressive and enduring body of work.
With the release of ‘Kapow!’ and ‘Rubberband’, fans are able to gain further insight into the type of space Jamieson is creating within now; a space seasoned by life experiences, unique perspectives and intimate honesty.
Drag Car Demonstrations
Make sure you get your tickets to the NTI Townsville 500 to see some of Australia's most powerful top fueler drags take to the Reid Park street circuit with a full throttle drag demonstration.
Fans with a paying ticket to the NTI Townsville 500 will be able to attend Saturday Night Thrills on Saturday, 10 July.
The high flying team at Airtime FMX will thrill the crowd on Saturday 10 July as part of the Supercars Saturday Night Thrills. With their death defying stunts sure to keep you entertained you won't want to miss a minute of the action!
Hot Wheels Stunt Team
Matt Mingay and his team mate Kent Dalton are the 2 Top Drifters of the Hot Wheels Stunt Team.
The both of them will be doing crazy tyre smoking Drift demos on Saturday Night. In Matt's NASCAR powered Chev Camaro and Kent's Supercharged HSV 4-seater 4-door Commodore.
Battle of the Bands
The first-ever Supercars’ Battle of the Bands competition in Townsville will reward one North Queensland band a once in a lifetime prize pool.
The winning band will perform prior to ARIA-Award winner Jamieson at Saturday Night Thrills and will also win the opportunity to sing the national anthem on the grid with that performance broadcast around the world and nationally on Fox Sports and the Seven Network.
They will also claim a hot lap, unique tour of pit lane and will perform live on Triple M in the days leading into the event. There is also a first-place cash prize of $5000 for the winning band.
The second-place prize winner will also perform on the Saturday evening and win a cash prize of $2000.
To enter, bands from North Queensland simply need to upload a video of their best rendition of a well-known rock song to social media channels and use the hashtag #SupercarsThrills before June 25.
The best online performances will be named as finalists on June 26, and from there fans will vote on Supercars.com for their favourite to claim the ultimate prize.

The Dunlop Super2 Series always has spectators at the edge of their seats! The series remains the core breeding ground for future Supercar stars and can’t go unmissed with past drivers graduating to race in the main game.
Mark Winterbottom, Scott McLaughlin, Lee Holdsworth, Tim Slade, David Reynolds, Cameron Waters, Chaz Mostert, Scott Pye and Nick Percat are all part of the elite group of past Dunlop Super2 Series driver’s now competing in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. In 2018, Scott McLaughlin became the second Super2 Series Champion to go on and win the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, the only other driver achieving this feat being Mark Winterbottom, who won Super2 in 2003 before taking the main game prize in 2015.

Porsche Carrera Cup
Attracting the best Pro and Pro-Am sports car drivers from the Australasian region, Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup is the premier one-make championship in Australia with drivers competing in identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991 Gen II) race cars. Born on the 911 production line in Stuttgart, the second-generation 991-series 911 race car was introduced to the series in 2018, offering improved performance and safety over its predecessor. Its impact drew huge interest globally with healthy fields and intense competition featuring across all classes. This too was evident in Australia where the breadth and quality of competition has set the standard for one-make competition since its debut. The new 992 generation 911 GT3 Cup car will make its Australian debut in Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup in 2022.
The 2021 Carrera Cup season promises to be the biggest on record as the series provides its teams and drivers extensive track time that is unparalleled to any other support category in Australia.
Boost Mobile Super Trucks
The return of the Boost Mobile Super Trucks to the Reid Park Street Circuit will add to an already blockbuster NTI Townsville 500 weekend.
Featuring identically prepared high-horsepower trucks making spectacular jumps and riding curbs on two wheels, get ready for plenty of crash and bash when they hit the track in Townsville!

The Toyota 86 Race Series, under the official banner of Toyota Racing Australia, has been running at Supercars events annually since 2016.
As a one make category it gives developing grass roots talent the chance to race on even terms against select high profile drivers.
Toyota 86 Race Series cars compete with a strictly policed performance pack and run on Dunlop control tyres.
With a $125 000 prize pool, large fields and Supercars talent scouts looking on, Toyota 86 drivers are set to turn on plenty of close, entertaining racing.
Pit Lane Walks
Get closer to the action than you ever have before – in Pit Lane!
Experience the epicenter of all the action in pit lane at Reid Park. Witness teams and drivers in preparation for Round 7 of the Repco Supercars Championship.
Please note, closed toe footwear must be worn to participate in the Pit Lane Walk.
Pit Lane Walk Meeting Point
If you have purchased a Pit Lane Walk, show your ticket at the Paddock entry and meet in the Supercars Paddock beside the Dunlop Transporter, ten minutes before the listed start time of your Pit Lane walk.
The Paddock is where all the behind-the-scenes action takes place. You can watch the teams working in the garages , check out the amazing purpose-built team transporters and you might even get to say hello to your favourite drivers.
*A Paddock Pass does not get you into the event, only the Paddock area when presented in conjunction with a valid event entry ticket.
The NTI Transporter Parade will return to the streets of Townsville Wednesday 7 July.
