Young Fan Donates Pocket Money for #8

Team BOC has received a donation from a dedicated fan, to help build Jason Bright’s new Commodore for the 2014 Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix.

Nine-year-old Brodie Pearson has passed on his pocket money – a hard saved $10.20 – to help with the expense of building a new Holden V8 Supercar after the significant crash at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.

“Here you are for your car. This is my pocket money I’m giving you to fix your car so I can see you racing again at Winton in April,” Brodie, from Wangaratta, wrote.

“Hope you are feeling ok after your crash.”

Brad Jones Racing wasted no time showing its appreciation for young Brodie’s support, presenting him with an autographed door from Bright’s former V8 Supercar, and giving him a money can’t buy experience, allowing him to sit in the driver’s seat and spend some time in the workshop with his idol Bright.

“Sometimes as drivers and teams we forget what sort of influence we have on a lot of different people," Bright said.

"The great thing about kids is they don’t hold back – they tell you exactly what they’re thinking. That’s what we saw there. He just wanted to make sure his favourite team was going to be on the track again, especially for his home round at Winton.”

BJR has worked around the clock to prepare a new chassis for Bright to contest this week’s Albert Park event after the monster crash at the season opener.

The team has received an amazing amount of support from its fanbase and is encouraging people to leave a message on Facebook to have your name written on the #8 Commodore at the 2014 Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix.

The event begins this Thursday, with tickets available for all four days now. V8 Supercars will feature on the track each day.
