Broc Feeney became ninth driver to win 10 races in a season
Jamie Whincup achieved feat a record six times between 2008 and 2014
Shane van Gisbergen won a record 21 races en route to 2022 title
Broc Feeney's mid-season surge has delivered some stunning results, with the Triple Eight Race Engineering driver taking his win and pole tallies into double figures.
Following a start to the season that saw Feeney only claim one win from seven front row starts in as many races, the Red Bull Ampol Racing young gun has won seven of the past eight races to storm into a near-certain Finals berth.
Race 22 marked Feeney's 10th win of the season, and was arguably his most impressive as he held off a hard-charging Will Brown in a tense intra-team battle.
With 10 wins for the season so far, Feeney has joined an illustrious club of drivers to have claimed 10 or more wins in a single season, and history suggests that it is a key marker to pass on the way to a championship.

Of the 18 times a driver has won at least 10 races in a season, on only two occasions has said driver not gone on to win the championship, namely Mark Skaife in 1999 and Craig Lowndes in 2000.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it is Feeney's Triple Eight predecessor Jamie Whincup who has won 10 or more races in a calendar year more times than anybody, achieving the feat six times at the height of his powers.
With 12 races remaining in the season, there is every chance that Feeney could match Whincup's 15-win season in 2008, however matching former teammate Shane van Gisbergen's extraordinary 21-win season in 2022 is likely a bridge too far.
The pathway to winning a championship also becomes a lot more challenging for Feeney this year, as he will have to contend with the ultimate unknown that is the Finals Series.
One bad result during the Finals could very easily sink Feeney's title charge, however with Finals drivers granted automatic entry to the next stage if they win at either the Gold Coast or Sandown, it could also play right into the hands of the #88 Camaro.
Feeney will resume his 2025 campaign in Ipswich on August 8-10.
