Being handed Toowoomba's highest honour has proven a "privilege" for Supercars champion Will Brown.

Brown, joined by his family, was presented the ‘Keys to the Region’ by Toowoomba Lord Mayor Geoff McDonald in a special ceremony on Thursday morning.

The 26-year-old joins a very short list of recipients, which includes two-time IndyCar champion Will Power and adventurer Alyssa Azar, formerly the youngest Australian to climb Mount Everest.

“It's awesome to be here in my hometown of Toowoomba and receive the keys to the city,” Brown said.

"I used to think that was a thing that was a bit of a joke and it wasn't actually something that you could get.

“To receive it today, it's a privilege. I love living in Toowoomba and it's just really cool to receive it."

Brown reflected on his championship triumph with media, saying that while the historic victory has now sunk in, he is raring to get going again this season.

"I've watched a little bit of it since, but not a whole lot,” said Brown, who will run the champion's #1 in 2025.

“It's definitely sunk in over the off season. That was a really surreal moment, finishing at Adelaide, getting to do the burnout in front of such a big crowd.

"Obviously, it's gone by super fast already, in 2025, ready to get back on the track. But, it was cool to win the championship.

"I hope it's sunk in a little bit because I'm getting back on the track in Supercars soon and it'll just be straight back to business, trying to win the title again.

"I got to celebrate with friends and family at Adelaide, but also when I came home to Toowoomba with my friends."

Tickets for the season-opening round in Sydney, on February 21-23, are on sale now.
