Will Brown cops penalty over pit stop breach in Ipswich finale
Brown dropped from 16th to 23rd in final classification on Sunday

Will Brown has been slapped with a penalty over a pit stop breach in Sunday's Queensland Raceway finale.
Brown finished 16th in Sunday's race won by Triple Eight Race Engineering teammate Broc Feeney.
However, the reigning champion has been hit with a 15-second post-race time penalty, dropping him to 23rd. Crucially, the penalty drops Brown behind Penrite Racing driver Matt Payne in the standings.
Brown's rear wheels spun during his second pit stop in the race. The stop was the subject of a post-race investigation and Motorsport Australia stewards hearing.
The rear wheels of the #1 Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet could be seen spinning while the car was still in the air. Per Supercars rules, “the rear wheels must not be rotating while the car is being lowered to the ground.”
It comes after Brown was sent into a spin by Ryan Wood, who was penalised over the clash.
"Look, probably not the finest Sunday ever. A bit disappointing. I felt like we were on for an okay result, felt like we should have gotten back on the podium there," said Brown, who won Saturday's second race.
"But I think as you know and saw I had a good run in with Woody at one stage which turned a good race in to not a good race. Yeah I rubbed him up a little bit, and I think he was unhappy with it, so he just turned me around. It's disappointing... but that's the way it goes.
"Aside from that fairly pleased with how things have gone this weekend. But overall, I think it's been a really, to be honest, a really tough Sprint Cup part of the championship for us. So a bit disappointed with the way the whole thing has gone.
"Felt like we had better qualifying pace this weekend and not bad race pace, but as has been the case there's a bit of work to do outside of the garage, so hopefully we can pull it all together, do a better job, try to get some results in the Enduro Cup."
The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship shifts to Enduro Cup mode at the AirTouch 500 at The Bend on September 12-14. Tickets are on sale now.
