Broadcast details for the much-anticipated Inside Line – A season with Triple Eight docuseries have been confirmed.
Fans will be given unprecedented access to one of the most successful teams in Supercars history, with the first episode of the seven-part series to launch on Fox Sports and Kayo on Wednesday.
Inside Line follows the defining moments of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship, including Shane van Gisbergen’s stunning Sandown victory while nursing a broken collarbone, and Jamie Whincup’s controversial on and off track squabble with his Red Bull Ampol Racing teammate in Sydney last October.
The series also covers hot topics including the retirement of Managing Director and Team Principal Roland Dane and Whincup’s final season as a full-time driver.
Episode one of the seven-part Supercars documentary will be broadcast on Foxtel (Fox Sports 506) and streamed on Kayo on Wednesday August 31 at 7:30pm AEST.
It will screen every Wednesday night at 7:30pm AEST until the week of the Repco Bathurst 1000, when the final two episodes will screen back-to-back.
In a first for international fans, they can watch the latest Inside Line episode each week on SuperView from 7:30pm AEST each Friday.
Further broadcast information for the Seven Network will be announced soon.
Wednesday's episode will give an unprecedented look into Roland Dane and the origins of Triple Eight Race Engineering.
From humble beginnings in the UK at the Panther Westwinds Car Company, Dane built a racing and engineering empire and one of the most successful racing teams in Australian motorsport history.
General Manager of Television and Content David Tunnicliffe said the series will give viewers an unseen insight into some of Supercars' biggest moments.
"We are excited to be releasing the third season of Inside Line featuring Triple Eight Race Engineering," Tunnicliffe said.
"This is our most in-depth season yet, giving fans an unfiltered insight into some of the defining moments in Supercars history.
“The seven, one-hour episodes will feature one of the best teams in Australian motorsport like we have never seen them before.
"This has been a huge body of work, with over 50 terabytes of media captured throughout the 2021 season and it has been a big undertaking by AirTime Media on behalf of Supercars, to bring this project together.
“Many heavy hitters from Australian motorsport television worked on this project, including Neil Crompton, Chad Neylon, Michael Heaton and James Harrison, and I would like to thank everyone involved.
“We are extremely grateful to Roland Dane, Jamie Whincup, Tony Quinn, Jess Dane and the entire Triple Eight Race Engineering team for the access they have provided.”
Triple Eight Race Engineering co-owner Jess Dane said the docuseries give viewers an "unfiltered and uncensored" insight into the championship-winning team.
“The series is very different to previous versions of Inside Line – it’s really a deep dive into the history of Triple Eight, going right back to the 1990s in the UK, plus the last two decades of Australian motor racing," Dane told Supercars.com.
"Even I was surprised at some of the interviews, the crew at Airtime really did their research.
"There are definitely some controversial moments, I was watching through my fingers at times! It captures the highs and lows of the 2021 season without following it chronologically, which I think works really well because the overarching storylines are so strong.
“Coming into the process, we said that if we’re going to do this, we’re going to do this properly – no filters, no restrictions.
"Filming it was tricky at times. Between Covid-19, countless highly sensitive conversations and Shane refusing to be filmed most days, it was a challenge to piece together, but I’m stoked with how it turned out and can’t wait for viewers to get this whole new insight into Triple Eight.”
