Triple Eight has completed a Dunlop Super2 test day for Angelo Mouzouris ahead of his Mount Panorama debut in a fortnight.

Seven-time Bathurst 1000 winner Craig Lowndes was on-hand for the occasion out at Queensland Raceway yesterday, turning some laps of his own in the #10 VF Commodore.

Lowndes will team up with Jamie Whincup in the Great Race on October 18, with the all-star pairing hunting a fourth win together at the Mountain.

But the day was primarily about Mouzouris, who was plucked by Triple Eight after winning the 2019 Australian Formula Ford Series.

After a slow start at the Super2 season-opener in Adelaide, the 19-year-old made a big step forward at Sydney Motorsport Park in July, running inside the top six the entire round.

Given the COVID implications that have played out, that was his last time behind the wheel, making the QR visit a high priority before his first shot at Bathurst in any type of race car.

“It was just sort of getting back in the groove really,” Mouzouris told Supercars.com.

“We obviously developed the car a little bit which was good but that wasn’t the aim for the day.

“I had a good day with Lowndesy there.

“[In the end Bathurst] is just another track, I’m going to treat it the same.

“Obviously it’s a lot harder than the other ones we’ve driven on but it’s just another track and hopefully we can just build on the last one and move forward.”

Mouzouris is the third-highest ranked rookie in the Super2 standings, in outright seventh.

A 22-car combined Super2/Super3 field will contest a pair of 16-lap races as part of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 across October 15-18.
