Coates Hire Trans Am Mustang racer John Bowe cemented his  2013 Touring Car Masters Championship points lead after he and Jim Richards shared victories at Queensland Raceway over the weekend.

After topping the timesheets in Friday’s two practice sessions, Bowe qualified second fastest and went on to win Saturday’s opening 12-lap encounter from Keith Kassulke and Andrew Miedecke.

In today’s two races Bowe was on target to achieve another three-peat of race wins for the round, as he did at the previous round in Darwin as part of the SKYCITY Triple Crown. Jim Richards in the Falcon Sprint had other ideas though and beat Bowe to the line in the second 12-lap, reverse grid (for the top 10) race.

The field lined up for the third and final 12-lap race and once again it was Bowe who showed his mastery of the track and his competitors winning from Les Walmsley and Keith Kassulke.

After the final race a happy John Bowe said: “I am delighted at the hard work the boys in my team put in. It's thanks to them giving me such a great car to drive that we were able to do so well.

“Coming away with a couple of wins and a second to cement my championship points lead, makes me very pleased and proud."

The Touring Car Masters continues at Sydney Motorsport Park for the Muscle Car Masters on August 30 to September 1. The next V8 Supercars event they appear at is the Sandown 500, the first of the V8 Supercars' endurance races.
