The ECB SuperUtes Series field is utilising a new side-exhaust system in 2019 thanks to a deal with one of Australia’s leading manufacturers of 4WD accessories, Torqit.

Following the conclusion of the 2018 season, Torqit developed a bespoke exhaust system to suit the ECB SuperUtes as part of a new partnership with Supercars.

The new exhaust is most notable as it now sticks out the side of the Utes, whereas the previous system was directed to the rear.

Supercars GM – Operations, Kurt Sakzewski, said the change to the side exhaust is one of several technical enhancements being made to the category in 2019.

“The side exhaust follows our recent announcement of an official turbo supplier for the series and comes as we continue to make engine upgrades to improve the racing,” Sakzewski said.

“We are currently in the process of introducing a new wheel and tyre package which will allow the ride height of the SuperUtes to be reduced significantly.

“We’re very proud to have another committed partner in Torqit on board as a supplier and key partner of this series.

“The next step is to introduce a SuperUtes performance pack which we hope will be available soon for the retail market.”

Torqit CEO, Jeremy McAlpin, said the organisation joined the ECB SuperUtes Series in 2018 with Team Triton Racing and was eager to up its involvement.

“The mix of all turbo diesel dual cabs hitting it out on track really fitted with our business and the Torqit slogan ‘Innovation in Performance’,” he said.

“We knew back in 2018 we could introduce something special with a custom exhaust for the SuperUtes.

“It was in Newcastle at the end of last year that the opportunity arose to help make the Series ‘louder and Torqit are the people for this.”

“The new ECB SuperUtes Exhaust is Australian-made and by redirecting it to the side instead of the back of the vehicle, it creates a superior note as well as increased performance.”

The next round of the ECB SuperUtes Series will take place at Barbagallo Raceway as part of the Pirtek Perth SuperNight event from 2-4 May.
