2026 ITM Taupō Super 440 track schedule revised due to Cyclone Vainau
Saturday to consist of 120km, 200km races
Sunday running cancelled, 120km race to be held on Friday in Christchurch
The track schedule has been revised for the upcoming ITM Taupō Super 440, which kicks off Supercars' first ever ITM NZ Double Header.
Before the first trip to Ruapuna in Christchurch, Supercars will return to Taupō on April 10-12. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
The impending arrival of Cyclone Vainau, which currently sits to the north of the North Island, has seen Supercars move around the schedule in an attempt to get all three races in.
Saturday will now consist of dual two-part Boost Mobile Qualifying sessions, before races over 120km and 200km round out the day.
After being tentatively scheduled, all Sunday running, including the second 120km sprint race has now been cancelled due to the impending arrival of Cyclone Vaianu.
The race will now be added to the Friday schedule of the ITM Christchurch Super 440 next weekend.
The three races will set the stage for which driver will take out the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy, which will be awarded to the driver with the most points in the ITM NZ Double Header.
The Taupō round is the first of five Super 440 rounds in 2025, along with Christchurch, Tasmania, Perth and Ipswich. It is also the third of nine rounds in the Repco Sprint Cup, following the DUNLOP Sydney 500 and Melbourne SuperSprint.
A bumper support category line-up will also compete at the event, with NZ-based racers from Central Muscle Cars, Toyota 86 and TA2 to take to the track.
The 2026 ITM Taupō Super 440 will be broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo in Australia, on Sky Sport in New Zealand, and on Superview for international viewers.
