Logan's verdict on Bathurst double duty debate

Campbell Logan is unconvinced that a lack of double duty will help his cause in the DUNLOP Super2 Series at Bathurst, as he looks to continue his surprise championship challenge in a breakout campaign.

Logan stunned to claim his maiden race and round wins in Darwin, and has held down a top three position in the standings since, while also being rewarded with a maiden main game drive in Tickford Racing's wildcard at The Bend alongside Ben Gomersall.

While Tickford Autosport teammates Reuben Goodall and Nash Morris, as well as mentor Mark Winterbottom, will all be lining up for the Great Race on Bathurst Sunday, Logan will be watching on from the sidelines, Tickford's wildcard program wrapping up at The Bend.

Logan is the highest-placed driver in points not on Bathurst double duty, entering Bathurst 99 points behind Lochie Dalton, however the Hobart product isn't convinced that being able to focus solely on Super2 will be advantageous.

"It's not really something I'm thinking about to be honest," Logan told Supercars.com.

"All I'm thinking about is just nailing my processes, and the rest will look after itself. I don't think focusing solely on Super2 is going to be a big benefit.

"Last year Lochie poled it twice and won on Saturday, and then Rylan [Gray] won on the Sunday. The top three for the round were all on double duty [Morris claimed third], so I think it shows that there's not really much of an advantage in just focusing on Super2.

"To be honest I'd love to be doing double duty as well. I wish was in their boat, but it'll be a little bit lonely in the paddock with Reuben, Frosty, and Nash on double duty. At least I've got Gommo to hang out with."

In the midst of a breakout season after joining Tickford Autosport, Logan finds himself in the middle of a six-way fight for the championship with his three Tickford teammates, as well as Dalton and Brad Vaughan.

Full focus is back on the development series for the remainder of the season after his first taste of main game, with Logan emerging as one of the key contenders for what could be one of the most exciting Super2 title fights in recent memory.

"It's going to be super close, I'd say the top six are all emerging as the real title contenders," Logan said of the brewing title battle.

"In the last few years it's probably been two or three drivers who have emerged as the contenders after the first few rounds, so this year is really wide open.

"I think it comes down to the level of competition this year being ultra competitive. When the teams and the drivers are this competitive, it really pushes you to keep getting better as a driver, and that's something that is really exciting."

Logan is also looking forward to the frantic nine-week run home, something he says has been eagerly anticipated after a spaced out start to the 2026 season.

"The Super2 season is kind of weird, because there's so much space between the first three rounds, it was the same even last year. The gap between Round 1 and 2 was massive this year," Logan continued.

"But now we have three rounds to finish the year almost back-to-back-to-back, and it allows you to really get into the groove. You feel like a race car driver again in the back end of the season.

"And the tracks are all so cool as well, they're all right up there in my favourites."

Round 4 of the 2026 DUNLOP Super2 Series will be held at the Repco Bathurst 1000 from October 8-11.
