Penrite Racing to run Indigenous livery in Darwin and Townsville
Livery designed by Melbourne Indigenous Transition School, Indigenous artist Tenielle McGuire
New design to also feature on driver, crew uniforms
Penrite Racing have unveiled a stunning Indigenous livery, set to adorn both of their Ford Mustangs at the betr Darwin Triple Crown and NTI Townsville 500.
Unveiled today in the Top End, the design was a created through a collaboration with the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS) and Indigenous artist Tenielle McGuire.
The artwork showcases stories identity, heritage, and belonging shared between MITS and McGuire, whilst also symbolising the energy and movement within motorsport.
Driver uniforms for Matt Payne and Kai Allen, as well as crew uniforms will also feature the Indigenous artwork.
A variety of traditional motifs and contemporary design elements feature throughout the design, drawing parallels between the pathways of life and movement of a Supercar around the circuit.
McGuire explains: “My design showcases a focus point of a meeting place representing the younger generation of Indigenous peoples, surrounded by outer rings symbolising connection to culture.

"Within these rings are tracks of goanna, emu, dingo, and people, reflecting the shared journeys of all living beings.
"This links to the racetrack and the cars, as just as they follow their own paths and cycles, people and animals have done so for thousands of years.
"It also connects to the cycles of the seasons, which are different between Indigenous groups and are uniquely experienced by different animals.
"From that ringlet there are river-like lines that come off it and flow beyond the canvas, symbolising the continuation of knowledge and the lasting nature of culture being passed down through generations.
"The overall shape of the design creates a sense of movement, as though the speed of the car and the force of the wind are shaping it, not erasing it, but enhancing its features.
"This reflects the adaptability of us Indigenous peoples and culture throughout history. With the wind representing the hardships faced, highlighting the pressures endured while emphasising resilience and strength.
"The colour palette draws on tones of fire, symbolising the deep history and knowledge that has been carried through generations.”
Penrite Racing CEO Brenton Grove added: “We’re proud of our partnership with MITS and once again our livery showcases an amazing story captured brilliantly by this year’s talented artist, Tenielle.
"The narrative behind this year’s livery delivers a powerful message and we know that our drivers and crew will be exceptionally proud to be wearing this artwork on our uniform and driver suits, and of course seeing it racing on track on board the Penrite Racing Mustangs.
"We can’t wait to see the Penrite Racing Mustangs at Hidden Valley later this week and proudly continue to show off this livery at next month’s Townsville 500 in Queensland.”
On-track action begins in Darwin on Friday.
