Supercars adds to digital experience with Throwback archive
More than 400 new historic races to be uploaded, to be watched on demand
New races to be uploaded to YouTube, new Instagram account launched
Supercars is introducing an expanded archive of famous races, with the championship’s most iconic races and moments to be immortalised on Supercars Throwback.
Supercars’ extensive archive of races will expand on the official YouTube channel throughout 2026, while moments, images and stories will told on a new official Instagram account.
Supercars Throwback celebrates the best of the championship’s decorated history, from 1997 through to 2025.
Over 400 new races will be uploaded throughout 2026, bringing fans modern classics from between 2015 and 2025, along with more classic additions and full seasons between 1997 and 2014.
The Supercars Throwback Instagram account extends the new brand beyond the one-stop video destination on YouTube, where fans can engage with content and vote in polls to have their favourite races uploaded and profiled.
This week alone, Supercars Throwback will premiere all five Taupō races from 2024 and 2025, the iconic final Pukekohe round from 2022, and the remarkable 2000 Bathurst 1000.
The introduction of Supercars Throwback comes after a record breaking start to 2026, with Supercars’ official social media, website and app achieving significant growth in Q1.
Supercars Digital Activations Director Andrew Mara celebrated the launch of Supercars Throwback, which marks a new era of celebrating history.
“The launch of Supercars Throwback is for the fans, who know our great sport inside and out, and have been asking for this for some time,” Mara said.
“The new broadcast deal gave us an opportunity to explore more of our sport through historic races and moments, with more than 300 races alone to be release from between 2015 and 2025.
“One thing that will never waver, is our fans’ ability to celebrate and remember what makes our sport so great, while engaging with today’s incredible action.
“Supercars Throwback is an exciting, fresh new way to tell more stories, take fans closer to our greatest moments, and do what we do best — celebrate the words greatest touring car championship.”
