Craig Lowndes makes Finke Desert Race breakthrough
Supercars legend claims Finke class victory with Dale Moscatt
Lowndes to make 33rd Bathurst start in October
Supercars legend Craig Lowndes has added Finke success to his long list of motorsport achievements.
The seven-time Bathurst 1000 champion partnered with navigator Dale Moscatt to claim victory in the Production 4WD class at the Tatts Finke Desert Race.
Lowndes and Moscatt led their class across both days of competition, with their Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 the only Production 4WD entry to complete both days.
The Lowndes/Moscatt entry completed the race with a combined time of six hours, 54 minutes and 21 seconds.
It was redemption for Lowndes and Moscatt, who retired from the 2024 event with a suspension issue.
“Winning the Production class at Finke in the Silverado ZR2 is a fantastic result and a really satisfying way to finish the event,” Lowndes said.
“Finke is one of the toughest races in the country, so to get to the finish and take the class win says a lot about the capability of the Silverado ZR2 and the effort that went into the program behind the scenes.”
Travis Robinson and navigator Paul Currie claimed outright honours with a time of three hours, 23 minutes and six seconds.
Lowndes will make his 33rd consecutive Bathurst 1000 start alongside rookie Bayley Hall with Team 18 in October.
